Killarney

May 1 & 2, 2011
IRELAND 2011
We arrive in Killarney on May 1 and depart on May 3.  Our lodging will be at the Railway Hostel Killarney.

Our major activity will be our tour of the Dingle Penunsula (Chorca Dhuibhne) on May 2.

The Dingle Peninsula is located in County Kerry and is the westernmost part of Ireland.  It is part of the Gaeltacht area of Ireland which means it is an Irish speaking area.  Wikipedia has a reasonably good explanation of the Gaeltacht.

Here is a link to a web site that has quite a bit if information about the Dingle Peninsula.

When we return from Ireland and you are asked if you have done the "Ring of Kerry" which is a tour around the Iveragh Peninsula, you can say " No, we did Dingle, which is even better"
Here is a link to an interesting web site which is an account of a 112-mile hike around the Dingle Peninsula by a father and daughter after her graduation from college.
